President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has endorsed the appointment of Dr. Olugbemisola Titilayo Odusote as the new Director-General of the Nigerian Law School, marking a historic milestone as she becomes the first woman to lead the institution since its founding in 1962. The appointment takes effect on January 10, 2026, for a four-year term.
Aged 54, Dr. odusote is currently the Deputy Director-General and Head of the Lagos Campus of the Nigerian Law School. She will take over from Professor Isa Hayatu Chiroma, whose eight-year tenure ends on January 9, 2026.
As a beacon of excellency, she graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Dr. Odusote obtained her LL.B. and LL.M. in Company and Commercial Law from the institution and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1988. She also holds a PhD in Law from the University of Surrey, United Kingdom, with scholarly interests in Public Law and the administration of justice.
She joined the Nigerian Law School in 2001 as a lecturer and has since risen through the ranks, serving in key leadership positions such as Head of the Academic Department, Director of Academics, and Head of Campus.
In addition, Dr. Odusote has been a visiting scholar at Nottingham Trent University (UK), authored numerous publications in reputable local and international journals, and presented research papers at prominent legal education conferences. She has also contributed to the legal profession through service on committees of both the Council of Legal Education and the Nigerian Bar Association.
In her new role as Director-General, Dr. Odusote will be responsible for providing overall academic and administrative leadership, shaping the strategic vision of the Nigerian Law School across its campuses, and serving as the principal link between the institution and key bodies, including the Council of Legal Education, the Body of Benchers, and the Nigerian Bar Association.
